Yesterday I shared some photos from the California State Fair which featured backlighting. Today I’m offering up some more photos for you to enjoy. I hope these bring a smile to your face and perhaps spark a memory of young love, riding the slides, or simply the taste of something sweet. Let me know if you have a favorite.

  1. Minnesota’s State Fair is just around the corner, but it sounds like my twins are unimpressed with the concept — but they are interested in RenFest, which runs roughly at the same time. I haven’t decided if they are really old enough to appreciate it though.

Me, I just want some mini-donuts and corndogs.

    Looks like fun. 🙂

    • My teens went purely to flirt with other teens. Seemed like a solid enough plan to me. If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably vote RenFest as well. You can’t beat people in costumes reciting poetry and sword fights.

I didn’t have a corndog this year, although I usually love them. I was walking around by myself and they were HUGE and expensive. Not paying that much to throw half of it away. Would totally have shared one though. Looked yummy.

      • I miss the harmless teen flirting we all did at the fair. I even met a few people I became friends with as a result.

        Ahh, youth.

You have poetry at your RenFests?!?!?

“Poetry” is much too strong a word for what happens at ours. “Doggerel” is more fitting. And then there is “Zilch the Torysteller”. My eldest made me sit through several showings at his stage (He reverses syllables and/or letters as he tells you the equivalent of Fractured Fairytales like “Rindercella”).

        Glad you had fun 🙂

      • Those sound fun too! I’ve not been to a large RenFaire in decades, but I remember some Shakespeare for sure. Some bawdy tunes as well. Maybe “poetry” was too strong of a word 🤣

  2. OK OK color is colorful. Dragon head #1 wonderful. Blue #3 I got one once but was only a ribbon, not a moon. Llama OK, but I love #5 goats. Isn’t #6 intriguing? What? Strawberries #7 there’s always a line. Up high like #8 is alright, but the topsy surveys my stomach says, no way. But #15 is just plain fun to see (see, I said, not ride). A big happy spider of sorts.

Thanks for taking us to the Fair.

Mine was the Santa Clara County. And first young trip by myself was charmed by thick soft cheese & tomato sauce pizza bought with my own money. I felt like such an adult.

    • Thank you for sharing that fair memory with me. What a lovely moment. I’m glad you liked all the photos. I won my share of blue ribbons in my youth, I have a trunk full of them in the garage. I wouldn’t ride those swings either, but I bet it’s an incredible view.

  4. Thank you for sharing your adventure and wonderful photos!!.. “Life gives us brief moments with another, but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime, So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.” (Author Unknown)… 🙂

Hope life is all that you wish for it to be and until we meet again…
May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true
    May your troubles be less
    Your blessings be more
    And nothing but happiness
    Come through your door

  5. All wonderful photos, Bridgette. That looks like an enormous fair, much bigger than any I’ve seen over here. I love #5, the goat enjoying his grass; I also really love two of the evening shots – #8 and #15 – I like the stark contrast between the precise figures on the rides (#8) and the background light and also the swing ride (#15) – I can imagine the speed that must be going round at would make me feel really quite dizzy. The moon on the left of the picture is a perfect ‘finishing touch’.

Sorry, my comment is so late. I’m taking a bit of a break for a while, but I hope to have some time to catch up with your other posts as well as more of some of my other favourite writers. Much love to you, dear friend Xxx 💖🌼💖
