Photography: Beach Camping

A few weeks ago I threw my couch cushions into the back of my van and went camping with family. It was only two nights, but the ocean was incredibly healing. I read some books, sang songs, and ate roasted marshmallows. I hope these photos transport you for a moment. Let me know if you have a favorite.

“If nature has made you for a giver, your hands are born open, and so is your heart; and though there may be times when your hands are empty, your heart is always full, and you can give things out of that—warm things, kind things, sweet things—help and comfort and laughter—and sometimes gay, kind laughter is the best help of all.”—Frances Hodgson Burnett, “A Little Princess”

  1. Glad you managed to make some time away to relax and heal ❤ -the hotdogs around a campfire look so inviting, 10 has great layering of sand, sea and sky & love the kite's bright colors in 16! 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Tom! Yes, I was so lucky my family included me on their camping trip. It was a wonderfully relaxing time and I even did some reading by the fire. I need to catch up on your stories. I’m missing Scar!

  2. My first comment is, which images are your most favored? Is there one you most want to give away? To whom? Is there one you most want to write a poem with. Which is the most like you? Which one do you… love?

It matters more to me which you love, than which I love. Please, please.

    • Oh, Neil! Those are very hard questions. I think #9 is one of my favorites as this particular bird kept visiting our campsite and was quite loud. I felt we had many conversations over the three days, so he may be my favorite.

However, the one that is most like me is probably #10. Standing alone on the beach with my camera and timing the wave shots just right has become something like meditation for me. It’s where I feel the most me. So, that one and the close up #13 wave are probably my favorites.

Thank you for the kind comment and for being such a wonderful, loving support!

      • Nice. It’s called leading with your own #*@ foot, what I asked. Less about pleasing, more about expressing who you are. That’s the knowing I crave. You do many beautiful pictures, meaning you are beautiful too. Beauty comes from beauty. That much is obvious. But the details of how you see and feel, that says so much more. If curious, for me, it’s the first, that “path,” because that’s what I’m always looking to recognize. I also always want you to be the one most pleased, because THAT’s what I hope will rub off on me. 😀

  3. Looks like a lovely, refreshing treat! I could feel the textures in #3, the scratchy seeds of the long grass and the softness of the poof. I can smell the campfire too….thanks for taking me camping, Bridgette! 💞💞💞

    • You are so very right, Roy. I’m finding I need to be in nature more and more as stress builds in my body. It’s the place I find relief and perspective. I’m glad you liked these photos, that means so much to me.
