Poetry

Some of my earliest literary memories are of reading The Hobbit out loud to myself in the backyard. I loved the way the words sounded in my mouth, and the emotion and images they conjured within me. This love eventually brought me to Shakespeare. I’d stage elaborate readings to my dog or horse, savoring the sounds. When I had kids, reading poetry became a daily thing. We read everything from Shel Silverstein to Robert Frost. We found poetry in music, and the way we played.

While I never fully developed my skills or studied poetry, a few years ago I started writing it. I’ve met some incredible people here and at poetry readings and I’m even writing my own collection.

I hope you enjoy my words, and if you have any questions or would like to work together, contact me at bridgettetales@gmail.com.

Happy reading.

Happy Birthday, Neil

As many of you know, my dear friend and fellow blogger, Neil Reid, left us last November. Today would have been his 78th birthday. In honor of his kind heart and beautiful writing, I’d like to share with you two poems that will be in our poetry collection coming out next spring.
