Here are some of my favorite photos from my birthday trip to Dillion Beach. This trip was about connection and reflection. Cloud cover allowed for only one sunset and it was an odd one. The sun flattened to a bowl shape and was swallowed by the sea. I found it inspiring and somehow fitting for the place I am right now. Bring on weird!

Nice, Bridgette! love #5 & 10

Thank you! #10 is one of my favorite places to stand. Do you see the shape of a woman in the rocks to the right? She’s always there and I make it a point to stop by and say hi to her. Also, #5 was one of those captures I wasn’t sure if I got until I downloaded the images. It was a happy surprise.

The shape of a woman …. absolutely! The first thing I saw!
The #5 shot is definite serendipity; perfect timing!

The foreground-background colour contrast in 3 was perfectly timed, great profile shot in 8! π

Thank you, Tom! The ocean always surprises me with new things to photograph. You can’t go wrong with starfish and seagulls.

All of them.
Psst… 11.
Nice Kafka quote, BTW.

Thanks. Yeah, there’s something quite magical about the sky in #11. I never want to leave the ocean.

They are all fantastic, but my two favorites are 5 and 10. I like both views of waves. I will have to visit Dillon Beach when I’m in the Bay Area. My DIL went to boarding school in Marin and grew up in Sonoma County.

Thank you! It’s a nice beach but can be pretty crowded on the weekends. I prefer the early hours of the morning when I can have the sand and waves all to myself.

That sounds ideal.

All beautiful photos, Bridgette, I like the sunset photos best! β€οΈπ

Thanks, John. The sunsets are always spectacular there, when the clouds don’t swallow them up. I was really amazed at how the sun appeared to flatten out at the end. Made it pretty interesting!

Yes, that sunset was pretty interesting! The first photo is looking out at the beach from my favorite entry spot. It’s a bit of a steep walk down but worth it!

Great rock pool and bird photos, especially the Curlew/Whimbrel/? The seascapes and sunset is a wow π

Thank you. I always appreciate when someone thinks my photos are wow worthy π I think one of the birds is a sandpiper, but I could be totally wrong. I sure wish I was more knowledgeable about birds.

It is a Curlew, the shape of the bill is the giveaway. Sandpipers have shorter straighter bills. There’s lots of books which I prefer but there are lots of apps as well

All photos are very good. #1 possibly is the most alluring. An air of mystery discovering the beach. Will there be pirates landing to bury a treasure chest?

I’m glad that photo was intriguing to you. You have to go through a little cove to enter the beach and each time I take this same shot because it feels magical to me. I’ve not found the pirate treasure yet, but I’m going to keep looking!

It’s q very nice shot. That coast must be beautiful. I’ve seen a couple films around those parts, photos by another friend… I’ll have to visit one day.
Keep looking indeed…

Beautiful photos Bridgette. #4 is kind of creepy – – – it looks like a hand clutching the rock! π

Thank you! You know, when I was downloading the photos, at first I didn’t see the rock. I thought…how is the water taking that shape? I thought it was interesting enough to include and can totally see how it might appear like a hand of water. I like it even more now.

I can’t even pick a favorite, these are stunning. Holy crap. Like these should be in a glossy photo book. The starfish one is me, just hanging on.
