Just popping in from the land of editing to share with you a few quick shots taken with my iPhone in the backyard yesterday. I also want to share exciting things happening:
- My short story collection book has a name and an ISBN number.
- I’ve hired an artist to create a book cover and it should be done in February.
- Yesterday, a kindergartner told me I was pretty.
- I’ve decided on a new photo project—portraits of strong women. I’ve got the first three models/friends booked and I’m excited to see how this grows.
- Tonight, I’m going to an art event celebrating Rebels, which is the exact energy I want to bring into this year.
- Bubbles and sunshine filled my yard again.
- I recently got Lightroom. My photos might look a bit different as I figure out how to use this new software, but I’m excited for a new challenge.
- My camellias and daffodils are blooming.
- My 5-year-old nephew is obsessed with gnomes and it’s the best thing over.
- Tomorrow I’m taking my daughter to see Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and I get to wear my old cowboy boots.
The world feels like such a mess, so I hope you forgive my need to celebrate all the things. Tell me something good happening in your backyard today and I hope you have a fantastic week.

- These photos were taken with my iPhone and edited using Lightrooom.
Your back yard looks amazing! I’m excited to hear what the title of your short story collection will be. Gnomes are the best 🙂

Thanks! It’s a bit overgrown and wild, my yard, but that’s how I like it. My bunny likes it too. I think I’m going to wait until the cover is complete to do a full announcement. I’m so excited, but I also have so much work to do.

Okie dokie. No problem. Have fun. There was a little bunny, hopping around our yard the other night. Haven’t seen them in ages.

Hi Bridgette, I published a Blogger Hoghlight post on you and your blog in 2022. I’ve learned a lot since then and have extended the post. I would like to highlight you and your blog again. It that cool. 🙂 Melinda

Who drew the picture on your blog’s banner and what is the story behind it?
Tell me more about the word show Listen to Your Mother. and how it sparked your creativity.
I included a link to one of my recents favorite post. Can I include two photos from the collection. If your work is copyrighted, I’ll include the right language.
I’m almost done once I here from you. 🙂

The header banner on the blog was drawn by my son when he was 8-years-old. He’s 20 now. It’s me as “Super Mom.”
Listen to Your Mother is a spoken-word show on Mother’s Day which features women telling their stories. The audition process itself was a big leap forward for me and made me consider myself a writer/performer more seriously.
You can share my work, just be sure to credit me and link it back to the original.
Thanks!

What a fun collection of photos (especially the fountain) and great way to celebrate the simple joys.

Thank you! I bought my mom that fountain years ago, but when she moved, it was too heavy to take with her and found it’s way to me. Every time I turn it on it’s like she’s beside me.

Thank you, Cindy. It’s been a dream for a long time and it’s fun to see it coming together. A lot of work…but it’s going to be so worth it to have my book in my hands.

Celebrating for the sake of celebrating is good 😀 New life in a winter garden is wonderful

Thank you! I’m not much of a gardener and I’m always surprised by the resiliency of plants. I think that’s why I love hydrangeas so much, each year they look like they are completely dead, but then in the spring they suddenly come back to life. Gives me hope.

That is the purpose of gardens. A place of resilience and the wonder of life.

Great celebrations. Also celebrating Jimmy Carter’s life today (post office closed)

Yes! I should have added that to my list. I loved his grandson’s speech, it was so inspiring and beautiful.

Thank you, Lamittan! I’ve not always been able to find joy, but it sure seems to be there when I look. Hope you are well, friend.

Thank you, Michele. This year I’m really channeling my bravery to step into things I’m not entirely sure I’m ready for, but it’s time for big moves forward. If not now, when? There’s always another challenge waiting.

Nice post 😎 Rebel like in Canon Rebel?

Nope! In this case, it was rebels, as in people who fight back against the norm—activists, punk culture.

Number 2 is my favorite, but then your newphew. LOL. Pammy went back to college and no one cried. 🙂

Nobody cried is huge! I’m so behind in reading blogs, and hope to get back into a regular reading practice now that the book’s off at the printer.

So…I’m staying out of the back yard and warm in the house since it’s only 1F right now….but the one thing I’m looking forward to today is time with my grandson. 💞

It was up to 60 yesterday! We’re in a warm spell right now, but winter isn’t quite done with us. I’m sure she’ll throw a tantrum or two before spring truly takes hold.

That is the best news about the book – can’t wait to read and review it.
Huh, you didn’t know you were pretty?
Strong women – do you follow The Attagirls on X?
Oh, the water feature, #2. I don’t have a backyard, just the sea to look at.

You are so kind! You’ll find your name in the acknowledgements page of my book. I’ve always appreciated your steadfast support of my writing. I don’t follow Attagirls, but I will now.
And I’d trade my yard for the sea any day.
