On Saturday, I attended the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Old Sacramento. Although I have mixed feelings about how the holiday portrays Irish people and the history around St. Patrick, it felt nice to forget politics and wave at dogs for a while.
I ran into a co-worker from my old Sacramento Bee days and met her adorable daughter. She remembered I always wore Docs and Converse. While many things have changed about me in the last 20 years, I still wear the same shoes.
Let me know if you have a favorite photo. Have a wonderful Monday!

Great shots, Bridgette. Funny how the Steampunk cosplayers saw it as an opportunity to be seen 🤣
Not only the Steampunk group, but also a Star Wars group and another cosplay ground including a very odd fellow dressed as Doc Ock. I suppose if you spend that much time on creating a costume, you want to show it off as often as you can.
Lol. Yes, I suppose you’re right. Hope all is well for you and yours 🙂
Yep! We had a big thunderstorm today, which isn’t normal for us, but enjoyable. The proof copy of my book arrives tomorrow. I’m scared I’m going to hate it…I’m so hard on myself.
Just being around all of those dogs (aside from all the lovely festivities) felt like some good therapy I Imagine! I’m going with number 1 as my favorite. 😀
Absolutely! That first little pup sat right next to us at the parade and his name was Milo. I wanted to put him in my pocket.
YESSS! No wonder! Milo is such a cute name too!
I like #3, if only because it’s rare to see a female drum major at the head of a pipes band. (I’m old enough to remember that women used to be called ‘majorettes’, even if they were actually directing the marching band.) It looks like it was a fun day, even if it was gray and breezy.
Yes, she was FIERCE! I didn’t catch a good photo of her tossing her baton in the air, but she didn’t even slow. She was incredible! It was a gray day, but really very nice. It rained hard the days before and after, so I think everyone was just grateful to have it not be cancelled.
I’m sure it’s great. And proofs are to catch any lingering issues. Excited for you 😁
Thank you. That means a lot to me.

Don’t worry, the book will be fine
Thanks. I’m such a worrier. Today I met with the book store manager, and I do feel a lot better. They are so supportive and kind—no expectations. I just want to have a great day.
Looks like a lovely parade all around, Bridgette! 💞
It really was! I used to do marching band in high school, and parades always make me feel nostalgic. This parade had so many amazing things to look at.
These are fun images Bridgette. I especially like the fire truck and old cars.
Me too! Not all parades have old cars, but they really should.
These are great photography. Wonderful photos. You enjoy St. Patrick’s day parade.
I’m so glad you liked them! My favorite part of parades is usually the marching bands, but the dogs really took the show this time around.
