Photography: #100DayProject Update

Last week I mentioned my friend Anna asked me to join her in the #100DayProject and I figured it was time for an update. I’ve managed to take photos every day and share them with a group of five of us doing it together. It helps having that extra accountability and I love seeing what they are all creating.

If you’re unfamiliar with this challenge, it’s simple. You choose any creative project you like and do it every day for 100 days, sharing your process on social media using the hashtag #The100DayProject. This year the dates are Feb. 22-June 2.

Here are a few shots taken so far that I haven’t fit into other posts. Let me know if you have a favorite!

  1. Your daughter’s a cool model. Not a dog-lover so they’re out. Maybe the seedling #5, sharp against the blurred background, or the header photo, again sharp, landing gear down. You must be a couple of miles from the airport? Nice work again.

    • Thanks so much, Roy! I do think my daughter is getting a bit tired of modeling for me 🙂 I love that seedling photo too, it’s from my backyard. The planes were in my friend’s backyard in Vegas. She’s very close to the airport. I’ve been taking my camera with me everywhere lately and I’m having fun taking one-off shots.

    • Thanks. I’m obviously experimenting a lot right now, but trying to focus on getting crystal clear images. I fear I’m paying too much attention to the technical and losing some of my artistic playfulness. Hoping to merge both as I move forward.

      • I’m trying. Every Friday I watch my goddaughter and take photos of her with my phone. Today, I used my camera, and it’s SO MUCH HARDER. I kept missing the shot because I needed to change the shutter speed to get the proper exposure.

I just took a class on proper focus and light, and all the examples were of models on location or in a studio. It’s easier I suppose when the lighting doesn’t change, to show how to get the right exposure, but what I’m finding hard is being able to adjust fast enough to not miss the moment.

I know all this comes with time, but I’m feeling impatient. 🙂

  2. Beautiful photos, Bridgette, the dog is so cute and reminds me of a cartoon character that I can’t quite place. 😍 I like the PJ (private jet) and the Delta airliner. Number 12 I think it is is lovely with the flowers! I wish I had your daughter’s beautiful, thick hair! I’m basically bald… 😂😬

    • My daughter does have fantastic hair! I don’t have that either. She gets comments all the time. The color is also seriously so gorgeous. The dog’s name is Paris and she’s basically a cartoon character on her own! Are you close to the airport in Vegas? All those plane shots are from my friend’s backyard. And thank you for always cheering me on!
