Photography: Beach Camping

Took my camera camping with my family at the end of March. Finally finished editing them last week and wanted to post them here, because these are some of my favorites.

I recently booked ten photo shoots. These are all free while I’m learning and building my portfolio, but I’m so excited people trust me to take their photos. In a few months, I’ll share some favorites as I get ready to launch a real business.

  3. This is such a warm and inspiring update. There’s something really genuine in the way you share both your creative process and your progress—it feels grounded, honest, and full of quiet excitement.

    It’s especially lovely to see how you’re combining personal moments with your craft. Taking your camera on a family camping trip and later revisiting those memories through editing gives the photos a sense of story, not just visuals. That kind of intention is what often makes photography feel alive.

    • Aww! Thank you for the kind words. It was a wonderful trip and I’m so fortunate to be able to capture it. My childhood memories are mostly of things I have photos of, that sort of spark the memory. I hope I’m giving my kids plenty of touchstones of their childhood.

  7. #4 caught my eye, something alive about those flames, and #6 for the joie de vivre – but they are all good, it’s clear that you have worked at your craft. Re# 21, I am always looking after snails who – after rain – often find themselves stranded and lost on concrete surfaces. I pop as many as I see back into a flower bed 🙂

    • Hi Roy! Thank you for the kind compliment. It’s hard to see your own progress, but even if it’s just a numbers game, I should be getter somewhat better at this 🙂

      Yeah, I was thrilled with how the fire looked in that shot. Finding shapes/images in the flames always delights me.

      Watching my nephew run along the waves, the sky as ridiculously beautiful as it was, brought me tremendous joy. I think I might frame #6. I love it so much.

      I too love rescuing snails after a storm. This fellow was walking across the road, and after taking his shot, my nephew helped him into some nearby ferns.

  9. Bridgette I hope you are well. Number 11 is for me the tree protected by the flowers a natural garden waiting to be enjoyed. The rest of the photos come second great light and great characters including the cute dog xx Regards to all your family x TT

    • That’s one of my favorites too! I was thinking of framing that one. It’s just such a peaceful photo. Thank you for the kind words. It’s the busy end of school year rush, but everyone is well. Hope you and your family are staying healthy 🙂

  10. I haven’t been to Bodega Dunes in ages! Your photos brought back a lot of memories, though it appears from the last picture that the campground has improved quite a bit. (It was kind of primitive the last time I was there.)

    #14 made me laugh. Fishing can be a ridiculously stupid endeavor, especially when you’re catching just the itty bitties. The picture of the borage flower (I think that’s what it is) is a lovely reminder of springtime by the sea. I really need to get out there soon, though I’m not camping these days.

    • So glad I was able to bring back happy memories for you! I’ve been going to this campground since my kids were little, and they are constantly working on it. They’ve been fixing one of the bathrooms for a long time (sigh).

      I don’t like to tent camp much anymore, so I’ve taken to putting a mattress in the back of my van and making a sort of camper out of it. I feel much more comfy and warm. That campground can get freezing at night.
