Last weekend I attended the annual May Day festival at the school my children attended from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Now, my sweet nephew attends and had the honor of throwing the rose petals for the May Queen.

It’s such a cool tradition and I’m so glad my kids got to experience it growing up, and a new generation does as well. It really starts off the Spring season right. Glad you liked these, they are some of my favorites.

We’ve had a few pop up out and about. Everything is finally waking up after the long cold.
Dandelions were all too happy to pop up and show their faced, LOL.

Ah, very much an old European pagan feast – great that it has taken root in the US, no doubt via European settlers. When I was at primary school many years ago we had an annual Catholic Queen of the May procession and one year I was Crown Bearer 🙂 Anyway, I like #23 for the little girl’s wonder and #15 for the community involvement.

Not many May Day celebrations, but this is at a Waldorf school, so they try to bring those old world traditions to life. May Day is my favorite! Aww, little Roy the Crown Bearer! Love i!

Thank you! They struggled a bit to raise the pole, as I’m sure you can tell in these shots, but it’s all about working together. It’s about community and the changing of the season, and I’m so glad you liked these. They bring me so much joy.

Thank you! It’s not really big here, either, just at my kids old school. I’m lucky I get to witness it even though they left a long time ago. It’s such a wonderful celebration and always makes me happy.
