drink me, grow taller
fold tiny animals within my palms
give me cotton candy hair
churro sweet fingers
eyes of neon light
drink me, grow taller
wash my face in lemonade
throw ferris wheels in my soup
clouds in my eyelashes
gather balloons in my fists
drink me, grow taller
drape me in blankets of light
tie bells of memory on my shoes
let the golden bear stretch me
past the gates

I like this one! The previous ones were good too, but this captures the energy of the fair. I haven’t been to one in years but I might consider going this time around.

Thank you! I went last night and it was so fun. Riding the monorail and walking around all evening amongst the neon lights filled me with nostalgia. I highly recommend it!

A charming glimpse into a poetic journey. “State Fair” sounds like a celebration of memories, community, and everyday moments captured through verse. Poetry has a special way of turning simple scenes—lights, laughter, food, music, and gatherings—into lasting emotions and stories. 🎡✨

What a wonderfully imaginative poem! ✨ It feels like stepping into a dream where the ordinary transforms into pure magic. Your repeated refrain, “drink me, grow taller,” beautifully echoes the spirit of childhood wonder, inviting the reader to see the world through curious, enchanted eyes.
I especially loved the vivid imagery—cotton candy hair, churro sweet fingers, clouds in my eyelashes, and bells of memory on my shoes. Each line is playful yet layered with emotion, creating a delightful blend of fantasy and nostalgia.
