Photography: Spring

“It is at the edge of the
petal that love waits.”
—William Carlos Williams

I’ve been having a lot of big feelings lately and so today I present to you a distraction in the form of flowers, cute animals, and one shot from the prom photos I took last Friday. Let me know if you have a favorite and I hope you have a great day.

    • That’s very kind, Tom! Thank you. Tomorrow I’m photographing our big May Day celebration and I hope to capture more Spring energy. It’s not my favorite season, but it’s a super close contender.

    • I was there to take prom photos of them, so yes! I only posted that photo because you can’t see their faces, but they did give me permission. It was my first time taking prom photos and I had a blast.

  1. I’ve been gone a lot, and I’m catching up in reverse order. I love #0 because the sun flares are like drops of sunshine. Also because I can’t do that with my point-and-shoot. I like #1 because of the depth of color, seen through the gradations of pink to orange-ish to white. Also the subdued ambience of it. I like #2 because the little flowers echo the colors of the duckling and make it look like it’s just a different kind of flower. I think it packs more “pow” than #6. I like #3 for the same reasons as #1, but I like the former better–but #9 captures the crenellated texture of #3 and the color depth of #1. I like #7 but wish it were brighter so I could see and appreciate the dragonfly. I like #8 better than #4 because there’s more energy in the squirrel, it’s a more unique pose, and the branches frame it. #10 made me sad, mostly because I’m an old guy.

    • Thank you for such a thoughtful comment! I only really got the effect in the top photo because the raindrops landed on the camera lens. I agree with your ranking and reasons. I should totally have lightened up the dragonfly shot a bit. Yeah, I get a little sad when I see young love too. Oh, to do it all again!
