poetry: radical

it can look selfish
this way I’m living
looking for love
through a camera lens
through the way my thighs move when I dance
through the way my chest rises when I sing
but it’s survival
like the lone daffodil blooming in January
a waning moon at dawn
the first dandelion puff
the cluster of fuzzy buds on the bare peach tree
we are all looking

  • These photos were taken this morning in my yard with an Olympus OM-D and edited with ON1 Photo RAW.

  1. Bridgette Anything we long for, can be seen through a camera lens, life itself is only a imagination of what we can achieve, one click away from everything we deserve. A still image captured, can open our minds, leading us to who knows where. You photos make me mind imagine ☺️🙏

  2. Those who think it’s selfish need a ‘boot to the root’. Every living being needs food…both physical to nourish the body and food for the soul….and the food for the soul will look different for every one. 💞💞💞

  3. Perhaps posting to a blog can be seen as attention seeking… but our readers, the ones willingly and freely giving said attention, get so much benefit out of our posting, so no, I don’t think it’s an entirely selfish thing to do. Like Dawn said, we’re allowed to nourish our souls through our hobby of choice!

    • You are so right! Being a creative is so hard. We pour ourselves into our work and then feel needy because we want others to read it and say something. I truly cherish every time someone takes the time to read my work or look at my photos. It makes me incredibly happy.
