poetry: floating together

find me where winter waters flow
honey thick. where ferns weave baskets
cradling colored stones. listen for songs
dripping down cave walls, tiny fairy feet
dancing delicately on crushed shells, soft
foamy voices calling your name. follow
them. do not despair as earthen gravity
releases you. let go. reach through murky
darkness until our fingertips merge. hold
tight as our toes taste stars. I’m beside
you watching our bubbly breath connect
inside and outside. beautifully untethered.

  3. Oh Bridgette, you found a place for your voice to lean. For your voice to be the one imagining. What is quiet yet not shy? This poem is. Then, “as our toes taste stars,” is a wonderful leap above a solitary point of view. Yes, growing “untethered,” as all children and all poems are meant to do. Beautifully.
