“One day you will look at those photos with much kinder eyes, and say, ‘dear God, I was a beautiful thing!'”—Catherine O’Hara as Moira Rose
Today, I’m starting a new series where I photograph the amazing women in my life. I’m hoping to improve my photography skills while at the same time honoring those who make my life so beautiful.
My daughter, Lola, agreed to be my first model. I’m grateful for her creative spirit, willingness to try new things, trust in my abilities, and endearing vulnerability.
Let me know if you have a favorite and have a great weekend.

What makes you proud?
Pushing through things and still being here.

What makes you feel brave?
Sharing my art and performing music.

What gives you hope?
The kind, beautiful people in my family and life.

- These were taken with my Olympus E-M1 MarkII, using a 50mm lens and edited with Lightroom Classic.
Great photos. Your daughter favors the late Teena Marie by the way.

She does! Thank you so much. I’m so lucky to have such a talented and beautiful muse living right in my house.

These are so so so beautiful. It is impossible to pick a favorite, but 4,5,6 have me enchanted. Lola was a wonderful muse ❤️

Thank you! Those might be my favorite too. I’m so lucky she’s so willing to let me style her and take photos. I’m hoping you might be willing to let me do a fun shoot with you this year. I’m thinking maybe some pink glitter could be involved. Or perhaps something relating to your new Gemma book.

My favorite actually is the blurry intro photo. I also like 8-10. Nice work, and different!

Thank you! We really played around with the sun lamp we have, giving these a very moody look. I’m excited to keep doing these each month and seeing what happens.

They’re all gorgeous – such great light ‘n shade, filters, and a soulful subject. But I love the header photo – a perfect spooky china doll who causes sleepless nights 🙂

Spooky china doll is kind of my daughter’s vibe at times! I’m so glad you like these. I used a sun lamp at various settings to play with color and light. It was a lot of fun. Can’t wait to try again. My next shoot is my childhood best friend in Vegas. We are thinking desert shots!
