Hi Bridgette I forgot to send you this even though I commented on your work this is what I wrote after reading your poem about Violets. There are violets in the window And a chair that is empty There are violets in the window Reminding me of you In the garden in the corner Is place you used to sit In the church round the back Is a candle for you lit There’s a smile from a picture Of days when skies were blue And a tear stain on the glass It’s there cos I miss you And as the sun begins to shine I look to heaven, up above Hoping you can see me As I’m sending you my love And the violets in the window Bend as I call your name Life with out you with near me Will never be the the same LikeLiked by 2 people Reply
Small, but a powerful poem. People can disappear while life around them continues. The poem dwells on the link between forgetfulness and transience. LikeLike Reply
“Old bone branch” is a great line, Bridgette. 💙

Hi Bridgette
I forgot to send you this even though I commented on your work this is what I wrote after reading your poem about Violets.
There are violets in the window
And a chair that is empty
There are violets in the window
Reminding me of you
In the garden in the corner
Is place you used to sit
In the church round the back
Is a candle for you lit
There’s a smile from a picture
Of days when skies were blue
And a tear stain on the glass
It’s there cos I miss you
And as the sun begins to shine
I look to heaven, up above
Hoping you can see me
As I’m sending you my love
And the violets in the window
Bend as I call your name
Life with out you with near me
Will never be the the same
