Photography: Pink Moon

A week ago today, after returning from a few days camping near the ocean, I woke up late to photograph the full moon. I’d missed it the night before, too tired to go out, and tried to get there in time. I got off exactly one shot before the moon disappeared behind the trees.

Instead of just beating myself up, which I’m very apt to do, I decided to just enjoy my morning. I followed around some ducks, obsessed over water droplets again, and got inspired by the sunrise. Life is too short to keep being so disappointed in myself. It was the morning it was meant to be.

Let me know if you have a favorite shot and have a great day.

    • Thank you, Michael. You might be amused to know this little park is located right behind a Walmart. You actually have to park in the lot of the store to access it. That little pink flower was in the rocks right next to my van. I like to think it grew there because a child or a bird dropped a flower there one time, on their way somewhere else. It grows by the garbage cans, by the place people rush past to get their shopping done.

I’m always attracted to parks like this, pockets of land where little bird dramas are taking place right next to where life is just rushing by.

      • I have one of those kinds of things going on behind a strip mall a few blocks away. They call it a park, but it is really just a berm between the strip mall and the back-side neighbors. I’ve walked it a few times and, as you say: the drama! LOL.

Which reminds me, I need to go visit my little wilderness pocket and see what winter left behind.

  1. Hi Bridgette, what a beautiful reminder to be gentle with ourselves. I love how you turned a moment of disappointment into a morning of wonder—that sunrise and those water droplets sound magical. I’d have to say the ducks following you around might be my favorite “shot” in spirit, but I bet the water droplets are stunning too. Thanks for sharing this, and have a great day yourself!

    • Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m afraid this is a lesson I have to learn over and over. I tend to be very hard on myself and take things too seriously. Following ducks around is a great way to let that go. I’m hoping one day it will be my default and not something I have to keep learning 🙂
