behind the lens
clouds grow limbs
horizons are eyes
hands lanterns
turn toward me
whitecap dance
let sand feed you
birds mother you
seaweed turns blanket
shells home
let me see you
breathe
*26/100: For the next 100 days, I’ll be writing and posting a poem every day.
**All photos are mine, taken with an Olympus E-M1 MarkII and edited with Lightroom Classic.
Wonderful that you are posting daily! I write a poem a day, but am too exhausted lately to post!
Beautiful, Bridgette. Loving your direction of late. More abstract. 💙
Thanks! I’m letting these words sort of come as they are, not working them too much, and the rawness feels right for me.
Well I think it works just about right. 😉
See my footsteps
the sand
will lead you
Yes!❤️❤️❤️
🥰
Bridgette, once again a thought provoking poem welldone, this one has the the person behind the camera looking through a rock pool into a mermaids world and capturing her thoughts. Regards to all 😊
So glad my poem created that visual for you ❤️
Wonderful Bridgette!
Aww! I’m so glad you like this one. That’s my July model in the photo and I’m so excited to share the entire session with you all soon. It was magical!
Look forward to that Bridgette.
Beautiful poem, Bridgette.
Thank you! I’m so glad you liked it. Taking photos on the beach was a dream.
You’re most welcome. The dream is always a fascinating place as it keeps changing with the waves.
well! About as good as #27 for me. Reading backwards again, sorry. This captures well how we see through our lenses, viewfinders, or screens
Thanks! I’m getting behind in reading too. I’ve been on a writing retreat and surrounded by beautiful friends for a week, but I’ve stayed up on my poems. These women have been so inspiring.
The photo!!! I love it! This is what freedom looks like.
Indeed! This is my friend who agreed to be my July portrait model. I can’t wait for you all to see the beauty we created together.
Bridgette, this is raw and beautiful. Every click of the camera catching something real.
Behind the lens you’re not just taking photos. You’re naming things. Clouds grow limbs. Horizons become eyes. Sand feeds. Birds mother.
And then you ask for the hardest thing: “let me see you / breathe.”
That’s vulnerability. That’s what happens when the camera stops being a barrier and becomes a way to say I see you. I’m here.
The photo says it all. 💙
