Last weekend I attended the annual May Day festival at the school my children attended from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Now, my sweet nephew attends and had the honor of throwing the rose petals for the May Queen.
It was such a lovely day! Let me know if you have a favorite photo and happy Spring!

Very beautiful photography, Bridgette! I love them!! The children are adorable, the Maypole tradition is centuries old. ❤️😍

It’s such a cool tradition and I’m so glad my kids got to experience it growing up, and a new generation does as well. It really starts off the Spring season right. Glad you liked these, they are some of my favorites.

What a joyful and heartwarming celebration of spring and tradition. Your photos beautifully capture the spirit of the May Day festival — the color, movement, laughter, and sense of community all shine through. There’s something especially touching about your nephew taking part in a tradition connected to your own children’s school memories.

Thank you! Yeah, it’s such a wonderful time of year. Have flowers started to peak out in your neck of the woods?

We’ve had a few pop up out and about. Everything is finally waking up after the long cold.
Dandelions were all too happy to pop up and show their faced, LOL.

Ah, very much an old European pagan feast – great that it has taken root in the US, no doubt via European settlers. When I was at primary school many years ago we had an annual Catholic Queen of the May procession and one year I was Crown Bearer 🙂 Anyway, I like #23 for the little girl’s wonder and #15 for the community involvement.

Not many May Day celebrations, but this is at a Waldorf school, so they try to bring those old world traditions to life. May Day is my favorite! Aww, little Roy the Crown Bearer! Love i!

All fabulous but my favourite is the raising of the Maypole. 😀

Thank you! They struggled a bit to raise the pole, as I’m sure you can tell in these shots, but it’s all about working together. It’s about community and the changing of the season, and I’m so glad you liked these. They bring me so much joy.

Thank you! Yes, I’m so lucky to get to see these beautiful celebrations each year. I’m such a creature of habit, and I love anything tied into the seasons. So glad you liked these. They might be my favorite May Day photos I’ve taken.

Wonderful to view your vibrant photos. May Day is barely a blip in my neck of the woods. Suppose more flowers would help bring that celebration to life. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you! It’s not really big here, either, just at my kids old school. I’m lucky I get to witness it even though they left a long time ago. It’s such a wonderful celebration and always makes me happy.
