pretend with me
we’ve fallen under
where sharks cry
and birds laugh
i’m me
you are blue
nobody sees us
we hold hands
taste salt
breathe sea
sink through quiet
still the cold
break hips free

what would you pay for this bit of blue?
i will throw in flour dust
and a turmeric-stained apron.

you might find bent hinges,
snippets of moon song,
silver strands curling at the edges.
