“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” -Anne of Green Gables
I happen to agree with Anne, there’s something magical about Octobers. While our family is experiencing a bit of a rough patch, we still made time this week to put up our fall decorations and notice the changes in our yard. All the trees are dropping their leaves, my pineapple guava plant is almost ready to harvest, there’s a large mushroom bloom growing along one of the garden boxes and everything feels just a bit more relaxed in the golden light.
For my photos this week, I’ve tried to capture a bit of the feel around our house. I hope you enjoy this selection of images and have a wonderful week.

Thanks, John! What’s October like in Las Vegas? Do any of the big casinos do huge pumpkin displays?

You are welcome, October is warm with the 80s so far but we will drop to the 70s soon for the daily high. Lots of sunshine and blue sky. I don’t know about inside the casinos as I very rarely go in them. Gambling is not good!

These are gorgeous photos, Bridgette. You take such good shots. I love the tin man and the little woolly mouse. I haven’t heard of Fall celebrations, or at least, not in the way you describe them. The only things we have in Autumn time are Halloween on the 31st of October and Guy Fawkes Night on the 5th of September.
I’m sorry to hear your family are going through a tough time (I was going to email you yesterday, but will do this tomorrow now – I was thinking about you). Love to you Xx 🌷💞

It’s really only Halloween that’s celebrated here, but my kids grew up in a Waldorf school were we celebrated each season. I love autumn and most of my decorations stay up until December.
Thank you for your kindness. Yes, my daughter is struggling very much right now. Please keep her in your thoughts.

The Audrey 2 type plant in your window is fantastic. I loved the mushrooms that grew this time of year when I lived near you, we just don’t get them in the desert. The first flower is one of my favorites as I see its transformation towards fall.

Thanks! I buy one decoration each year and as my plants are taking over I thought perhaps that little plant was perfect addition this year.
That was one of my favorite pics too. I love how the flower changes over time. Maybe I’ll do a sequence of photos of the changes in the flowers within my yard.

One of the things I always loved about Waldorf and riverdays was the awareness of and connection to the changing seasons. I’d love to see photos of those transitions.
