Photography: Rickey Ranch Pumpkin Patch

“Sometimes I think that ideas float through the atmosphere like huge squishy pumpkins, waiting for heads to drop on.” -Neil Gaiman

If it’s not clear by now, I’m a huge fan of all things fall. Few things bring me as much joy as our annual family trip to Rickey Ranch Pumpkin Patch. This year, as we are facing some big family struggles, every smile felt brighter and every pumpkin more delightful.

Although we went during terrible lighting and most of my pictures didn’t really turn out, I’m happy to have captured the day. May it bring a smile to your face and drop some wonderful ideas onto your head.

  • Photos were taken with an Olympus OM-D and edited with ON1 Photo RAW

As a bonus happy photo, we recently adopted a new guinea pig. My daughter named her Toast the Ghost and she’s simply splendid.

What to see more?

  1. Lovely pictures, as always. The girls have tried to convince me to get any number of little critters and are disbelieving when I point out that we already have seven cats that might like to make a meal out of anything we brought home.. Love the name.

    Happy autumn!

    • Seven cats! Yes, I think you’d better stay away from little critters. My daughter and husband are both terribly allergic to cats, but a neighborhood cat has sort of adopted me. It comes and sits in my hammock when I read and rushes to greet me when I step out the front door. It’s almost like having a cat again 🙂

  2. These are gorgeous photos, Bridgette. I’ve never seen a pumpkin like the one in your photo (second from last photo.) I love the pictures of the two animals; I think one was a goat, and one was a boar (I could be wrong, though). And the photo of the skeleton behind the tractor wheel is really funny. Lastly, the little guinea pig with an orange pumpkin is just adorable. I love the noise guinea pigs make when they squeak. I used to have two as pets when my children were young. They were called Tuppence and Poppy. I certainly enjoyed looking at your pictures. I hope you and your family are coping as best as you can. I think of you often … Love Ellie Xx 💗🌷💞

    • Thank you, Ellie! Your guinea pig names are so cute. I can picture you saying them in an adorable British accent and it makes me so happy! We are doing our best and counting down the days until we can get better help for our girl (the US healthcare system is terrible and difficult to manage unless you are very wealthy). I appreciate your kind words and love.

  3. I love this season too, Bridgette. By the look of your photos, it was a wonderful trip to the pumpkin patch. I love the Gaiman quote, and I hope you had ideas (not pumpkins) dropping on your head. Thanks for sharing the beautiful day.
