11/30
on longest day
tilt toward sun
find cypress trees
look close, closer
see soft feather
watch it tremble
remember flying clouds
forget sinking sand
notice sky change
gold, purple, pink
swallow it whole
feel forgiveness burn
dance around flames
emerge a phoenix
weave midsummer memories
into fiery wings
close your eyes
take a bite
all my words
are still warm

More short poems:
1/30: not my cat
2/30: comfort
3/30: ache
4/30: remember
5/30: graduation
6/30: big love
7/30: Heavy and light
8/30: delicate
9/30: leaping
10/30: Dad gave me…
The last stanza…wonderful.

Gosh, wrong analogy, but this poem gives me shivers. First stanza tilts into impossible, leaves mystery in place. Last stanza – anything I say won’t be enough – but – invites intimacy, delivers passion. See? It says more than that – and THAT is its beauty and strength. Wow, would be a good word to use here. Good words, well said.

Beautiful, Bridgette 💕💕💕 This has been a powerfully transformative week for me. “Emerge a Phoenix”, indeed!!! I didn’t even think to link it with the summer solstice until I read your lovely poem 🙂💕🙏 Thank you for this…

Fun to read but don’t get burned. I was exactly 62.5 years old on the solstice yesterday. 😂

Your poetry is genuinely good! I speak as a former teacher who had to sift through college student creative writing projects, where a lot of them opted for poetry because “it’s easy and short.” (I used to tell them, “I assure you, the shorter the text, the harder it is to write.”) I hope you publish them in book form someday. Poetry seems to be having a renaissance lately, you should ride the wave. 🙂

You are extremely kind. Thank you. My poetry has more growth to do before I’ll consider a book, but I appreciate your belief in me. I appreciate it so much.
