words don’t matter
you do
across a table
carrying our years
cups in hand
shadow pens
starry paper
ray dotted cheeks
called-out names like a song
jane says look up
we rewrite the room

What a beautiful piece of minimalist poetry. In just a few carefully chosen lines, you’ve created an atmosphere of warmth, friendship, and shared history. I especially love the opening, “words don’t matter, you do.” It immediately shifts the focus from conversation to presence, reminding us that genuine connection often exists beyond language.

I like this because it’s simple but also very poetic, full of compressed meaning.

That’s so kind. I’m working on small poems this week because I’m crazy busy. Not sure they are all working, but that’s okay. It’s more about a process than every poem being a gem.
