Thanks, John 🙂 I imagine that was a wild year to be a teenager.

Well… Let me say that if I could, I would roll the date back to January 1979 and experience the 1980s again! OM gosh, it was such a sweet ride! 😎🔥🔥🔥

Like an artichoke, eaten leaf by leaf. When all opened, inside, a ruby heart steps into the light. I like that I can’t put my finger on the mechanism, how your poem delivers so much, so quietly, like I read mouth agape, then suddenly see. This poem navigates like a butterfly flies. (I continue being impressed)

This might truly be the most amazing compliment I’ve ever received about my writing. That first line came to me as I went to bed Saturday night, dreading Sunday and the feelings that would come…but all night I worked on those verses. Each one came to me through dreams until it all came together. It felt important to me and I’m glad you see it.

I think your poem-Listening ability woke itself up, then stayed that way. Willing focus – might be another way to say what was working here. By whatever name – so well done.
