poetry: daybreak

16/30

earbuds in place
i step outside
dance the sunrise
drumbeats say love
or maybe move
see myself stretch
sway warm awake
toes touch dirt
skirt twirls free
eyes open wider
life is poetry

    • That’s amazing, Ray is such a great partner. I’m always listening to music and dancing, but there is something special about dancing outside barefoot as the sun rises. Music in my ears that only I can hear. It’s healing ❤️

I only hope my new neighbors don’t see me 🤣

  1. This poem sounds like you, your voice, how you think and feel. I like the sense of listening to you. Maybe you’re finding it more for yourself, what was inside you – and – maybe I’m listening better. Simple, direct, unequivocal. Beautiful to read.

But shame on me? One suggestion, maybe try in your head, see what think. “Life is poetry”, what about reversing it? ie. Poetry is Life. Interesting? Think it stays true with what you’ve already said in your poem, the way it feels. But stated in this sequence, do you see, hear… it sounds more potent that second way. To me. What you think. And the “meaning”, it gets to play a little more – let the reader wonder – what’s that mean? See, Fun…
