“May your feet ever walk in the light of two suns… and may the moonshadow never fall on you… ”—Robert Fanney
This week my assignment for the 52 photo challenge was to capture shadows. I had originally thought it might be nice to drive downtown and look for interesting shapes, but time got away from me and I settled on playing around at home.
The first eight photos were taken in my daughter’s bedroom and are of my own shadow. The rest were taken in the backyard. The hummingbird and owl are metal cutouts that usually sit in my planters, but I moved them around to create these images.
Last week was hard for me. I cried a lot and reached a new part of my healing and these photos are a part of that expression. I hope these photos bring you as much joy as they did me. Let me know if you have a favorite and have a fantastic week!

- Photos were taken with an Olympus OM-D and edited with ON1 Photo RAW

There you are. Can hardly believe I’m here, nearly first. I’m so slow like an elephant. OK Bridgette I’m doing fours today. Number 4, because it feels the most “natural”, unstaged, just feels right seeing it. Our minds/eye has a sort of built in – this-is-the-way-it’s-supposed-to-be way of seeing. Double that for number 8 – oh the color, I forgot how much I wanted that. And THAT color is the color of all my “longing” for whatever it is I’m longing for. So yea, I love that one. As ever a big warm gold star for hanging it all out there to be seen. I root for you seeingwhatyouwanttosee.

Thank you for always saying the absolute kindest things to me. Your comment has made my day so much brighter! #8 is a pair of fairy wings my daughter made a few years ago and I love the color they made as a shadow and I’m happy you liked it too. The color of longing…I love that.

The classic shadow one is where someone takes a photo and gets their own shadow in the shot 🤣

Ha, that’s what I used to say 🤣 I took a photo of a cycle race once and the star guy had a streetsign coming out of his head!

Thank you! It’s not getting very many views, compared to my regular photos, so maybe it doesn’t work for everyone. I’m glad you liked them! I had fun with these.

Oh, that’s strange. I wonder why.

I know. It’s really weird. I wondered if it was because of the holiday, but I’ve only got a few likes today too. Very odd.

8 has a lovely flash of added colour and 10 is a great contrast with the owl silhouette against the tree stump. Lovely snapshots, Bridgette 🙂 Glad your healing’s getting better ❤

Thanks! I really liked that one too. I couldn’t decide between the two crown shots and so decided to share both. Channeling my inner queen 🙂

#6, the sort of scary shape you’d sense out of the corner of your eye in a graveyard. You are creative in so many different ways.

What a kind thing to say, Roy. Thank you. Yes, there is something inherently unnerving about shadows. That one is a bit on the scary side!

So many of these have a touch of the ‘otherworldly’ vibe! Love the shadow play, Bridgette! Praying each day brings you more peace and joy to aid in your healing 💞💞💞

Thanks! It was fun to play with the shadows to create things both beautiful and maybe a little unsettling. My assignment for this week is abstract photography. I’m a bit stumped at the moment as to what I’m going to do, but I’m excited to try.
