“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.”—Dr. Seuss
This week my assignment for the 52 photo challenge was to create an image by shooting through an object. My photos were taken this morning at Folsom Lake.
The bird above, and its near twin #5, were shot through a hole in a leaf. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to capture the edges of the leaf so it’s more of an abstract image. #1 is through a piece of bark and #4 is through a discarded styrofoam cup. Let me know which image you think works best or if you have a favorite.
As a bonus, I’ve included a link to the story I wrote this time last year. It’s a fantasy story/tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll give it a read.
Week 37: With a Touch of the Tapestry
Have a wonderful week!

I played my first Dungeons & Dragons game this week. I’ve been wanting to do this forever and it was everything I thought it could be. So grateful for new friends!

- Photos were taken with an Olympus OM-D and edited with ON1 Photo RAW

OK, old truth – not all “prompts” are good prompts – too easy, too hard, too odd. Maybe this one’s the later. That said, #3 I like because it shows more than only one way to look (and PS, got something to show you in same vein that’s masterful), #6 because I’ve spider respect, #10 same (more talking to the dead). Tough tough prompt I think. You’re doing great to hang-in there with the work.
And WP continues being a PITA all over the place, but where else to go.

So true! The examples of this prompt were all taken through windows…but I suppose I just wanted to make it hard on myself. I liked the clustered cobwebs too and I loved that veiny leaf. Sometimes decay can be quite beautiful.

I liked that one too. I can’t believe how much garbage people leave at the lake, but at least this time I was able to use it.

That’s gross, but that’s still nice that you repurposed it!☺️

Very hard to get right. The bottle is my favourite this week Bridgette 🙂

Thanks! Yes, the examples showed mostly photos taken through windows, but I suppose I wanted to make it hard on myself. I liked that one too. Can you believe someone left a full bottle of beer at the water’s edge? At least I hope it was beer…I didn’t touch it just in case.

Yes I doubt it was beer but then again we used to keep our drinks cool by putting them in the water

I’m glad you liked it! In some ways I suppose you can say I used trash to make something beautiful. I did also pick it up and throw it away. I’m always amazed at how much garbage people leave at the waters edge.

Oh WOW! This is my favorite photo series of yours yet! (I know I said that about the long exposure shots, but I’m a sucker for these soft abstract vibes haha.) Love them all!! 🙌🏼🎉

Thank you. I think you are the first to like #8. It’s not really a shoot through but isn’t that plant so pretty?
