“Fire spirit, fire sprite
Share with us your golden light
Come for us our candle light!”
—Waldorf verse
This week’s assignment for the 52 photo challenge was to photograph something at night. As the days get darker faster, I find myself burning more candles. I wanted my photos to capture the warmth and comfort of flickering candlelight.
“This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine”
My lovely daughter agreed to be my model and we ended up with these Victorian-inspired photos. I think they capture a bit of the danger of the darkness too and I’m in love with them. Please let me know if you have a favorite and have a wonderful week.

Week 45: A Night at the Carnival

She’s unharmed as you can see! Thank you Lola for being a fantastic model and a wonderful daughter. You make me proud every single day.

- Photos were taken with Olympus OM-D and edited with ON1 Photo RAW

You and your lovely daughter did a wonderful job. You, both of you, inspire me to do something more although right now won’t say what – because, it’s a secret and two, because I don’t yet know. I often start that way – some image appeals to me, lands on my shoulder, starts murmuring – so what ya gonna do? Thank you both for how you share with us. me

Thanks! Yes, I wanted to do “sweet” but my daughter kept going the more “spooky” route. I think we met in the middle quite well.

Great job capturing the soft candlelight, the warmth of skin and hair, and the deep, deep darkness. #2 is my favorite, it so well depicts the experience of wondering what is out there

eerie and captivating; your daughter is a fine actress, modelling the nuances of moods; perhaps some TV work might be in the offing 🙂

#2 I think but all are lovely. Something about this sequence reminds me of the Sancta Lucia festival held around this time of year in the Scandinavian countries.

Thank you. My daughter actually played Santa Lucia at her school once. It’s a beautiful celebration.

She done good! Such painterly shots, especially, for me, shots No.6 and 8. They look just like they could be Victorian paintings.
