“The destiny of every walking man is to immerse himself in the panorama surrounding him, to the point of becoming one with it and, ultimately, to vanish”. —Federico Castigliano
This week’s assignment for the 52 photo challenge was to take a panorama shot. We were given two options—the photograph-and-stitch method or the panorama setting on your iPhone. I didn’t have the time and/or energy to learn something new this week, so I went with the easier option and used my phone.
The top image shows what normally happens when I use the iPhone panorama feature—the distorted bend and uneven spots. For the rest of these, I tried to avoid such a huge distortion. #1 is my absolute favorite and #7 was just to show you my cute Christmas decorations in my front yard.
I’m getting toward the end of this challenge and I’m ready to be done. Next week is street photography with all the examples being amazing street vendors in foreign countries. I’m not sure yet what I’ll be able to do…but I hope to end on a high note. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Lovely photos, Bridgette! I rarely use the Pano mode on the iPhone 15. It’s lenses are fantastic.

I might have to upgrade to a newer cellphone. They just keep getting better and better.

They sure do, Bridgette, each generation has camera improvements. This is easily the best one yet but it still of course has a tiny sensor compared to the Nikon Z5 Full-Frame I just picked up. The damn iPhones are so ridiculously priced at over $1000 dollars…

Great work. I am most drawn to #1, but I have a soft spot for the gravestones.

Me too, Michael. We took a drive out in the country and I stumbled upon this cemetery. I’m finding myself drawn more and more to these spaces. I wish I’d had my better camera with me because I saw a lot of peacocks.

Peacocks? Interesting.

About a dozen of them. I’ll have to go back because I couldn’t get close enough with my cellphone to get a good shot. But will they still be there? Who knows.

I actually looked up just now as to why you might want to have a collection of peacocks and there is no real strong argument _for_ it. Plumage, okay. Exotic egg and meat market… if that floats your boat. Other than that… well, there are less noisy pest control methods, 😉
I’m intrigued. Of course, people probably wonder why I have seven cats. Hell, *I* wonder why I have seven cats. So I won’t raise my eyebrow too high.

Those are some great photos. Do you happen to have any grocery stores that sell specific cultural foods that could work for the next challenge…just a thought.

Thank you. It’s supposed to be street photography, so I think I’ll just wander around downtown and see what I can find. I always get nervous though because what I mostly see is homeless people and I’m scared to photograph them (insensitive??)

I have asked homeless people to photograph them after talking to them for a little bit and they usually don’t have issues, but results can vary, building a little rapport helps.

I think as a woman it’s a tiny bit scarier.

Not being a photographer I’ve no attachment to the challenge; all I care about is result. All good, however hands up, number Seven is mine. This works at several levels. Profound, taken as a whole; there’s a poem right there to see. When much younger, now I remember one of my dreams was being in an orchard that went on forever; expand this image for all its worth and that is what I see. A very warm unexpected memory. I want to step into it.
And sshhh, the party pig is my other favorite! Good merry Christmas.

I’ve always been fascinated by orchards too-something about the symmetry feels magical to me. Endless. Yes. Like you could run down the rows forever.
Don’t tell the others…but the party pig is my favorite too ❤️

Can see why you love 1 – the left-right contrast works great with the stark road line dividing them. 😀 Your front-yard decorations look so sweet! ❤

Thanks, Tom. I loved how that road photo looks like it could be two different worlds. I’m glad you like our little yard display. I try and keep things simple. ❤️

#2 is eerie: it’s like searchlights probing, probing … you could write a story around this evocative shot —

It does look like that! I think all of these could be a story. I should really be writing more stories based off photos instead of creating a photo to accompany a story. Good idea.
