52 Photo Challenge: Week 46-Analog

“People think dreams aren’t real just because they aren’t made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes.”—Neil Gaiman

This week’s assignment for the 52 photo challenge was to take an analog photograph. You could either use a film camera or you could edit your photos to look as if you did. Not wanting to worry about finding film and having it developed, I opted for the editing option.

These photos are special to me because they were taken during a writing retreat in Tahoe last weekend. It was three days of deep connection, fireside chats, and being seen. I’m grateful for my writing community and for the power of vulnerability.

  1. o Bridgette. These are such strong, affirmative photos, uplifting. Do I have to pick a favorite? #2 the pine cone in the snow, #3 that tree looking out to the snow-capped mountains, #7, the flamingo pink tree among all the green ones, and #10, that bird in the treetop trilling its ode of joy 🙂 beautiful, all !

    • Thank you! Yes, it was a beautiful winter wonderland. I sure do love living where I do in California. If I drive 2 hours in one direction I can visit the mountains and 2 hours in the other direction the ocean. Pretty lucky.

  3. HAH! I *love* #10! How many times did I eagerly wait for my developed film only to find the best photograph was “flared” because I mishandled the film either loading it or (more likely) unloading it. You really captured it with these. Nicely done.

    • Thank you so much, LuAnne. I feel like I’ve waited a long time to find this writing group and now I can’t imagine my life without them in it. I loved #10 too. I actually was photographing the tree when the bird landed on it. I made sure to thank him for posing for me.
