“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, ‘Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.’”― Lewis Carroll
A storm blew through this weekend bringing rain to our town and snow to the mountains. On Sunday, my daughter and I drove until chains were required to play in and photograph the beauty of the first flakes. Not having ever lived in the snow myself, it’s easy to romantize the way the white clings to the green of the trees. It felt truly like the spirit of the winter season and I wish we could have stayed all day.
Please enjoy this selection of images below and have a wonderful week.

It’s a big treat for us too! We drove an hour to visit it, as it doesn’t snow at all where I live. It’s so beautiful.

What?! I shouldn’t be so shocked. I didn’t see snow until my junior year in high school. We are lucky to leave a few hours from the mountains.

Thanks! I’m so glad we live so close to oceans and mountains. It’s so nice to visit the snow but not have to shovel it 🙂

Fun! It’s been a while since I’ve seen snow up close, long enough that I don’t remember off the top of my head how long.

I always like photo mondays. Snow is only fun at first and then it becomes tiresome.

I bet! I’m lucky I can visit the snow and then drive home. I imagine it’s pretty magical though to look out your window and see it snowing.

Thank you! I didn’t see the snow until I was in high school. It’s really a magical thing to visit, but I’m not sure I’d want to live in it.

Beautifully captured, Bridgette! I’m in WI, and snow is a necessary evil this time of year for us…it can be beautiful and magical…..but a downright pain as well 💞

My family all lives in MN and WI. I can’t imagine such low temps or shoveling yourself out every morning. I consider myself lucky to live where a drive 2 hours in either direction can bring me snow or the ocean.

Sounds like the best of both worlds, Bridgette! Someday I will get to see the ocean…

Nice photos of the snow. So far here, we have had a lot less snow than normal. 2 dustings in November, that was it.

Thank you. I’m not sure the snow in the mountains stayed long, it’s warmed up again. Hope you get plenty of snow soon.

We drove about an hour to visit the snow and it’s probably melted now as it was an early storm. I just love the peacefulness of a snowy landscape.
